RMO: practical guidance

What to know before contacting us

RMO applies to displaced Ukrainians who meet the scheme’s conditions and have a BSN. Healthcare providers normally verify eligibility through their systems and claim the costs directly.

Key rules

01

No premium or deductible

RMO does not require an insurance premium or Dutch deductible. It covers basic healthcare and certain additional care under the scheme’s rules.

02

Working does not automatically end RMO

A person under temporary protection does not have to take out standard Dutch health insurance merely because they work, but may choose to do so voluntarily.

03

A different route without a BSN

Where there is no BSN or RMO does not apply, a healthcare provider may in some cases use the CAK route. This is not RMO and has different conditions.

FAQ

Frequently asked RMO questions

What if a doctor or pharmacy cannot find my RMO registration?+

Ask them to check your BSN, personal details and date of care. If the problem remains, retain the message or bill; we can help identify the payer and prepare the communication.

Should I pay a bill immediately?+

Do not ignore it, but first check who it is addressed to, what care it concerns and whether the provider should have claimed through RMO. Record the payment or dispute deadline.

Does RMO cover all healthcare?+

No. Coverage depends on the type of care and the scheme’s conditions, and some aids or procedures require prior authorisation. Check the current official RMO reimbursement overview.

How can Sterke Arm help?+

We review the administrative position, letters, bills and deadlines; help communicate with the provider, RMO or CAK; and identify a possible complaint or challenge route. We do not provide medical advice.
